Cards Galore June Challenge "Sketch"

Good Morning everyone

Its time to share my DT project for the challenge over on

This month we have a SKETCH for you to follow.

And this is what I have made using the Sketch:

I followed the sketch pretty much to the letter. Only I turned it round a bit as it looked better with my design. I decided to go with a monochrome theme as its ages I made one last.
I used Linned card on this project. The white strips are linned card as well, even though its a bit hard to see.
My flower is handmade, using my punch/stamp set from Tonic Studio. Also made with linnen card and edged with a bit of black PanPastel.
My image is one of my favorites from Docrafts. I stamped with Versamark onto my linnen card and gently smothered with black PanPastel.
The white dots around the image is made with a gel pen.

And that is it..
Hope to see your entry on our challenge blog, but if you fancy sharing your creations, why not join us in our Facebook group as well.

Altered Money bags fro Shernocky Crafts..

Good morning everyone..

First of all, I want to say a HUGE welcome to my new followers. Over the last few week several new people has joined me on my little piece of the www.
Im delighted you are all here, and hope you will continue to find inspiration when you visit.

My post for today is for

Each month, we, the DT, get a bag of goodies to play with.
June goodies consists off:
1 x Paperartsy Hot Picks A5 stamp set
1 x Paperartsy Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic Paint
1 x Polyview photo display book
10 small brown money envelopes
  A length of Jute ribbon

If you wish to see my first June project click HERE..

As I used the photo album on my first post, I was left with the little money bags.
And by god... Im struggeling on this one..

Anyone who knows me, know that Im am NOT an altere.. I never have managed to get the hang of altering. And these little bags.. Not a clue what to do with them..

I ended up having to ask the rest of the DT for help. They all had loads of great idea and I cant wait to see what they have made, but one idea stood out. One of the girls suggested to make some little tag pockets.. My brain said "Use the as they are".. Dont know if that makes sense, but it did to me..

So i have taken the little envelopes and used them just as they are... As envelopes..

In my kids school (and proberbly in every school) we are quite often asked for money for one thing or another. I already have little brown envelopes I write on when I send money in to the school, so I decided to go down that road. Only to add my crafty flair.

This is the finished result:

I first coated all 3 envelopes with different amounts of my paint (see list above). This paint dries so quick, that by the time I came back from washing my brush, the envelopes were dry.
All I did was use the stampset to stamp strait onto the envelopes. I used black memento ink.
The letters are all outline stickers that I coloured black with my promarkers.

That is it!! It was soooo simple..

I showed my finished project to the kids when they landed home from school yesterday, and both just LOVED them. They knew strait away what it was I had made and have now requested that I make some more, for when the new school year starts.

Now what to make for my last project lol.. Still have a few of the envelopes left and desperate need an idea of what to make with them..

But that is it for today.. I do hope you like what I've made.
Thank you for stopping by and for any comments left behind.

Tsunami Rose.. Another little extra...

Hi guys..

My wednesday post for
Tsunami Rose

This one is another "little extra" that I've jumped at the chance of making.
"Little Extra", is basicly a series of projects I have agreed (with a HUGE smile on my face) to make for Daisy, aka Tsunami Rose.
My posts will be different from the rest of the DT, as Im using different materials, and Im not following the challenge theme, yet I will keep my post at the usual time, on wednesdays.

But dont forget, you can join the weekly challenge HERE..

So with no further ado, this is what I've made for this week.

This is the sheet I've used. Its called "Libro Mariposa"

And this is what I've made with it:

My girl element is also from Tsuanmi Rose. Its called "Ephemera Vintage Ladies"

I hope you like what I've made. It was a quick and easy card but with such a pretty back ground sheet, not much was needed for the finished result.

Thank you for stopping by and for an comments left behind.

A little extra for Tsunami Rose

Morning everyone..

What a glorious weekend we have had here in Donegal. I tell ya, you dont get a more beautiful place then where I live, when the sun shines lol.. And me and my kiddies AND hubby (it was his weekend off for the month) has deffinately made the most of it..
But once the kids have gone to bed, and its time to chill a bit, I did get a chance to sit and craft a bit. And this weekend I made a little extra, for my DT on
Tsunami Rose.

Daisy, our boss/designer has a special offer on at the moment, and asked me, if I fancied wipping up a little something for Father day, using her promotional print..

I didnt need to be asked twice. Anyone who regulaly stops by my blog, know that Im addicted to all things vintage. Tsunami Rose designs is my favorite vintage digital designer. I cant get enough of Daisy's designs lol..

So ... here it is, my little extra :-)

The tags and the pockets are from the promotional sheet. (see bottom of this post for more info)
My backing sheet, the same, from the Store, and can be found HERE.
I stamped over the backing sheet (once attached to my card base) with a bouble wrap stamp.

The little "bottle caps" are also Tsunami Rose and can be found HERE..
The greeting, Ive made on the pc.

And that is it from me today. I hope you likew what I made.

Tutorial for Shernocky Crafts.

Good morning ya all..

My DT post today for

Each month, we, the DT, get a bag of goodies to play with.
June goodies consists off:

1 x Paperartsy Hot Picks A5 stamp set
1 x Paperartsy Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic Paint
1 x Polyview photo display book
10 small brown money envelopes
  A length of Jute ribbon

A fantastic goody bag, but also a challenge, as I mainly make cards & scrappages..
But never the less a fantastic challenge.

I recieved my goodybag only yesterday, late morning, and by 3 pm I had my project done. I knew strait away what I wanted to play with first. The Displaybook...

A small and cute little photo album.

I sanded the front cover to create a bit of grip on the surface. I just used a cheep nail file.

 This is what I used.
My stamp set from PaperArtsy - A Fantastic set, just LOVE IT...
Paperartsy Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic Paint in Ice blue.. Amazing paint, never seen it before. It dries really quick and really is as it says, chalky..
And for stamping on the cover, I used my StazOn in black.

I cut my stampset into individual stamps, and simply stamped strait onto my cover. (These stamps comes unmounted, so once cut apart, I simply used my gluestick to attach the stamp to my acrylic block. Just make sure to remove and clean strait after use)
Watch your stamp dont slide when you press. As the cover is a smooth surface, it does take a steady hand as not to mess it up.

After my stamping was dry, I covered the cover with my paint. I went for very light strokes and slowly built up the colour. I added more to the spine of the album, to cover the name on the spine of the album.
(I accidently got too much paint on to the middle of the cover, but I used a baby wipe to gently wipe of again, then simply took my brush and went over the cover again)

Once I was happy with my paint, I left my book to dry. After it was fully dry, I did cover the book in a layer of varnish.  Im hoping that the varnish will make the book a bit more durable.

I covered my chipboard letters in my paint. If you dont have any chipboard, simply cut them from card stock and add them using foampads.
TUT is my Sister's knick name and as her birthday is coming up soon, I decided to make my little book for her.

Ok I must be honest.. I screwed up with these pics..
My idea was to stamp my letters, then lightly cover them in paint. Just like my cover. Only it didnt look right, so I ended covering the letters fully in paint and then stamp.. Meaning the picture are not quite right..

Ok imagine that the letters in now fully painted lol.. like above.. THEN stamp. I used the swirl stamp in my set, and again stamped with StazOn. Once again to make it all abit more durable, once paint was dry, I added a coat of varnish and left to dry.

Ok so while my lettters was drying, I could continue with my now dry book.
I took a strip of black lace from my stach and added down the spine of my book. Then added a length of ribbon, left over from last months goodies, over it.

Lastly I added my letters and Voila, my little photo album is finished.
Here is a few more pic of the finished result.

And that is it from me for today. I hope you like my book.
Thank you for stopping by & for any comments left behind. Would really love to hear what you think of the tutorial :-)

Tsunami Rose challenge 23 - "Romance & Love"

Hi everyone

Its time for the new challenge over on:

The theme for this week is:
"Romance & Love"

Here is what I have made for this weeks challenge:

I decided to go with something a bit different for this week.
I had seen a girl around FB making these beautiful wall hangers and that really gave me the idea.

Its a very simple project really. All the shapes is a set of dies, and I simply layered black card stock with the fantastic Tsunami Rose design sheet I got for this week.

The greeting is also from the sheet, I simply just cut it down to size.

I hope you like :-)

Crafty People Monthly. Issue 2 - June 2013

Hi everyone

Below is the article I have written for the
Crafty People Monthly

This month our theme is "Love of paper"..
 A fitting title for me..

I have a thing about patterned paper.. I see a pad, I just have to have it.. If I REALLY like it, I have been known to buy 2 of the same..

Why?? because I simply love what I can create with paper. I make cards as well as scrappages and books. Lately my fellow writer, Tina Teasdale, has inspired me to have a go at altered art, and has been teaching me how to create flowers from the smallest scraps.

I have been crafting ever since my eldest baby was born, so we are coming close to 10 years now. I have gone from a little box of bits and pieces to having my own craftroom. I have gone from making very simple cards, to now trying out more and more exciting tecniques. And with that my stach grows. But nothing has grown as much as my paper stach.

I have several folders bursting full of 12x12 papers, all ready for when I get in the scrapping mood. Several A4 folders full of pads & printed designs, 8x8 pads galore and dont forget my shelf bursting full of my 6x6 pads..

So why do us crafters need that many papers?? In theory, 1 pad of paper at the time should be enough, shouldnt it??? Did I hear you all scream NOOOOOO??? lol

Personally I think it has something to do with the creative mind. I know, for myself, I get inspired to do a project when I see a paper pack I like. Many of us start out a card or a scrappage by picking our papers. so if we only had 1 pad, our creativity would dry out. I do find myself returning to a pad at a later date, so nothing ever goes to waste, but in all honesty (and I will deny ever having said this lol) I do personally have enough paper to last me a life time lol..

I asked on my FB page "why do you love paper crafting?" Here is what some of my crafting buddies had to say:

Sandy Hughes Hubbard: I love it because it is my therapy. It is a happy place I can go, leave the outside world outside. Forget about everything that is going on in life. It is just me and my memories :o) www.asmylittleworldturns.blogspot.com

Fran Hancock: I love Paper Crafting because it helps me relax from the stresses of the day, and I love being able to give family handmade cards, I haven't bought a shop card for years .  http://craftyfran.blogspot.co.uk/

Sall Baker: You mean you need to ask lol? I love the freedom to express myself, the ability to create something original, unusual and different, I love giving something that has been made with love and soul and means something.

Paper Crafting:
Well I guess really it is'nt just about our love for paper, is it? Its what we can make with paper, its the quality time we get out of playing with paper. The satisfation we get out of making and giving something we made simply with paper.

Next month I will explore that side a bit more. I will have an interwiev with a good crafting buddy of mine, Gwyneth, who will tell us about what Crafting with poor health means for her.
